This 1994 BMW 850CSi is one of 225 examples produced for the US market between 1993 and 1995 and was acquired by the seller in July 1997, reportedly from the original owner. The car is finished in Calypso Red over gray leather and powered by a 5.6-liter V12 paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes Style 21 wheels with “Throwing Star” covers, heated power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, an onboard computer, a custom audio system, and a Dinan ECU tune. Service since November 2020 includes replacing the battery, spark plugs, fuel filter, and fluids.
The CSi featured deeper front and rear bumper valances as well as a lowered ride height when compared to the standard E31 coupe. This example is finished in Calypso Red (252) and features pop-up headlights, a sunroof, and quad exhaust outlets. The Carfax report notes that the front end was damaged in 2003, and the seller reports that the car was hit while parked. The seller notes that additional damage to the front occurred during a collision with another vehicle. The car was subsequently refinished in 2008, and a ceramic coating was recently applied.
The 17″ BMW Style 21 wheels wear directional “Throwing Star” covers with BMW-branded center caps as well as 235/45 and 265/40 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. In November 2019, the shocks, springs, pads, and bump stops were replaced by Carbahn Autoworks in Mountain View, California. The four-wheel disc brakes feature ABS, and the fluid was flushed in November 2020.
The cabin was reupholstered in two-tone gray Nappa leather with matching side panels in 2008. Amenities include heated power-adjustable front seats with position memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, wood trim, BMW-branded floor mats, and an onboard computer. In January 2020, Caracoustics of Santa Clara, California installed a custom stereo system consisting of a Pioneer 7″ touchscreen head unit, a ZAPCO six-channel amplifier, Focal Utopia crossovers, and Focal Utopia cabin speakers including 8″ woofers, 3.5″ mid-range speakers, and tweeters.
The four-spoke steering wheel features Motorsport stitching and frames an overlapping tachometer and 180-mph speedometer along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer has 180k miles.
The 5,576cc V12 was rated for 372 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque when new, and an aftermarket Dinan ECU tune has been added. Service since November 2020 includes replacing the battery, spark plugs, fuel filter, and fluids. A UUC clutch kit and lightened flywheel are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
